If you’re like me, then you’ve lately been exploring agentic coding, having AI write code on your behalf. What will be the impact on our work developing software? On hiring? On training?
From what I can tell, the question isn’t whether we’ll be using agentic coding, but how we do so. Knowing how AI writes code, how to control it, and where it’s still limited, are important skills for every software engineer in 2026.
In February and March, I held workshops introducing Claude Code for both Python and Pandas usage. One participant wrote, “I got what I most needed: a structured ‘kickoff’ to using the tool so that I could no longer postpone setting it up and figuring out what to try it on first.”
This month, I’ll again be holding two agentic coding workshops. But this time, I’m looking in two new directions, with all new material:
• On Thursday, April 23rd, I’ll be offering an OpenCode Python Workshop. OpenCode is an open-source alternative to Claude Code that lets you switch between models — or even run multiple models in parallel and compare their outputs.
• On Monday, April 27th, I’ll be offering an Advanced Claude Code Workshop. Learn what MCP servers are, and how to incorporate them. You’ll learn about Claude Code skills — using them, and even writing them. You’ll learn about subagents and coordinating among multiple agents. I’ll also show you some lesser-known Claude commands and configuration tricks.
A previous participant wrote that my workshops helped them realize agentic coding “isn’t as scary as folks claim or are worried about.” My goal is for you to come out of these workshops with more information, experience, and even opinions about how to incorporate agentic coding into your routines.
